Pollywaffle55 store Description EXQUISITE TRADITIONAL LAYETTE Newborn/Reborn doll OOAK My auction item I would like to offer is this gorgeous hand knitted layette consisting of dress, jacket, bonnet and booties. I have knitted this complete outfit in a very fine and soft 3 ply Patons Feathersoft beautiful ivory colour. (Pattern used is late 1940's to early 1950's)Suitable sizings: Baby - 0-3 months/Reborn doll - minimum of 20" (As per my Model - 'Megan') DRESS: The dress is knitted in two patterns - moss stitch with a combination lace pattern. The skirt consists of a border of moss stitch, a combination of candelabra and horseshoe stitches which forms the combination lacey pattern for the skirt of the dress, with the bodice in panels of moss stitch and lace pattern. On the bodice of the dress, up the centre panel of moss stitch, I have embroidered two grub flowers in pale pink with pale green leaves. The short sleeves are very full and puffed, also knitted in the combination lace pattern with a moss stitch border. Tied around the bodice is an ivory satin ribbon which has also been embroidered with three grub flowers. Stays have been crotched under the arms to secure ribbon in place then fastened into in a bow at the back. The back of the dress is fastened with five ivory pearl buttons. JACKET: The matinee jacket is also knitted in the same patterns as the dress throughout but the back of the jacket bodice is knitted all in moss stitch. The jacket's long sleeves are also puffed and very full the same as the shorter dress sleeves with a moss stitch border around the cuffs. The collar has panels of each pattern with an embroidered grub flower at the front lower edge. Also fastened with four ivory pearl buttons. BONNET: Knitted in the matching pattern panels and embroidered along each moss panel with three grub flowers, the bonnet has a picot edge along the back, with a lovely lacey circular pattern on the crown which really sets off this beautiful outfit. BOOTIES: These very sweet booties are also knitted in the matching patterns - the feet of the booties in the moss stitch pattern and the turn down cuffs in the combination lacey pattern panels. They are fastened with matching ivory satin ribbon and I have also embroidered one pale pink grub flower in the centre of each upper foot.
